Equal Housing Opportunity

We are pledged to the letter and spirit of the U.S. policy for the achievement of equal housing opportunity throughout the nation. We encourage and support an affirmative advertising and marketing program in which there are no barriers to obtaining housing because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin.

Federal Fair Housing Act

The Fair Housing Act (42 U.S.C. § 3601 et seq.) prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of housing based on:

  • Race
  • Color
  • National Origin
  • Religion
  • Sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation under HUD guidance)
  • Familial Status (families with children under 18)
  • Disability (physical or mental)

Washington State Law (RCW 49.60)

The Washington Law Against Discrimination provides additional protections beyond federal law, prohibiting discrimination in real estate transactions based on all federal classes plus:

  • Marital status
  • Sexual orientation
  • Gender identity or expression
  • Honorably discharged veteran or military status
  • Use of a service animal or guide dog
  • Source of income (including Section 8/housing vouchers)
